With FM Shutdowns in Norway, Sales of DAB Radio Receivers Soar

OSLO — Norway’s Electronics Trade Association Elektronikkbransjen recently reported that Norwegians bought a total of 965,000 DAB radios in 2016, representing an increase of 30.4% compared with 2015, according to Bergens Tidende. 

Radio sales have been brisk at the Norwegian electronics outlet Expert Oppdal. In a recent interview in opp.no Jo Erik Hevle, who sells radios there, he was quoted as saying “We're actually out of DAB adapters to regular radios and hope we get more soon.” Regarding the increase in sales, he said “The increase has been significant. From last December to January this year, we have had a tenfold increase in radio sales and radio-related products.”
