123rd AES Convention Education Panel to Enlighten Students
New York - Aug 20, 2007 - Jason Corey, the education chairman of the 123rd AES Convention, has developed student programs to accompany the established career workshop, recording and design competitions, a second annual technical paper competition and an information-packed education fair. The All-star Education Forum Panel will provide student attendees access to career-building insights provided by some of the most connected and accessible members of the professional audio community.
Scheduled for Oct. 7, the All-star Education Forum Panel, chaired by Mark Parsons of Parsons Audio and Center for Audio Studies, will focus on how audio education is preparing prospective professionals for the marketplace. Panelists include Jim Anderson, chairman of the NYU Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music, AES 123 convention chairman and Grammy Award-winning recording engineer; Alex Case, convention tutorials and workshop chairman and University of Massachusetts professor; Dave Moulton of Sausalito Audio Works, a Grammy-nominated engineer and producer; Eddy B. Brixen, an audio consultant with Denmark's EEB; Dave Lebolt of Digidesign; and Zoe Thrall director of the Studio at the Palms in Las Vegas and former GM of Hit Factory.
The topics to be addressed by this panel will include:
- What does it take to be employable?
- What skills need more emphasis
- Future-proofing: teaching skills
- How to get the most for your education dollar
- Mistakes students should avoid
The 123rd AES Convention will be held in at the Javits Convention Center in New York, Oct. 5 to 8, 2007.
