GSS Adds Alert FM to Commercial Mobile Alerts
Jackson, MS - Oct 13, 2010 - Global Security Systems (GSS) is expanding its FM radio-based alerting technology to include cellular carriers with a Commercial Mobile Alert Service (CMAS) option. Alert FM is a public safety tool that allows emergency management officials to disseminate warnings and safety information in the form of text alerts to FM radio-enabled wireless phones based on their specified locations.
The Alert FM system uses the Radio Broadcast Data System (RBDS) over the existing FM radio infrastructure. FM radio receiver chips in cell phones will make CMAS a reality. GSS says that when cellular networks become overloaded in an emergency, FM radio's single-point to multiple-point transmission assures the delivery of critical information to a vast number of FM-enabled devices simultaneously.
