New York - Sep 21, 2010 - More than $150,000 was raised to help broadcasters in need at the 2010 Broadcasters Foundation of America Celebrity Golf Tournament, held last week at the Siwanoy Country Club in Bronxville, NY. In August 2010 the Broadcasters Foundation granted the highest amount of financial aid to the largest number of broadcasters in one month than ever before.
The Celebrity Golf Tournament is one of the Foundation's biggest annual fundraisers. Sponsored by Evercore Wealth Management for the second year in a row, over 150 executives and celebrities attended the fundraiser including LPGA future stars Ryann O'Toole and Susan Choi; lead singer of the Spin Doctors Chris Barron; Maurice DuBois, Chris Wragge, Dana Tyler, and Max Gomez from WCBS-TV, New York; Bond girl and actress Rachael Grant; WOR Radio's John Gambling; Bill Evans of ABC-TV; NFL Hall-of-Famer Nick Buoniconti; Lou Dobbs and more.
This year's sponsors also included ESPN, Triton/Dial Global, Heineken and Johnny Walker.
The Broadcasters Foundation has provided aid to hundreds of broadcasters who lost their livelihood through a catastrophic event, debilitating disease, or unforeseen family tragedy. Individual membership is $150 a year. Donations also can be made as a personal gift to the Foundation and corporate contributions are accepted through the Angel Initiative.
