GPS Testing to be Held in Southeast United States
Washington - Jan 19, 2011 - The Federal Aviation Administration issued a flight advisory that the Department of Defense will test GPS in two periods in January and February 2011.
The test will be held Jan. 19 through Feb. 10, 2011, and Feb. 14 through Feb. 21, 2011. The tests will be held from 7 p.m. ET until 9:45 p.m. ET. The tests will be conducted for 45 minutes followed by 15 minutes of off time. The FAA warns that during testing, GPS will be unreliable and may be unavailable within a circle with a radius of 370 nautical miles and centered at 304906N/0802811W (105.25 degrees and 52.1 NM from the SSI VOR at FL400).
The map below shows the center of the testing radius.
