LBA, Radian Create Turnkey Alliance
Greenville, NC - Apr 10, 2005 - LBA Group has signed an alliance agreement with Radian Communication Services. The agreement provides Radian worldwide distribution rights to LBA's RF antenna products and RF integration services. In return, LBA receives full access to Radian's engineering, technical services and infrastructure products. In addition, the firms will share marketing resources to develop medium-wave turnkey integrated transmission systems for broadcasters and government users.
New ERI Building Complete
Chandler, IN - Apr 16, 2005 - The new Electronics Research facility, constructed for manufacturing rigid transmission line, is a 20,000-square-foot factory facility. The building will house and support production of ERI's Macxline and standard coaxial rigid line products. The building is located near the main plant, which provides more efficient flow of material and economy of labor.
ERI Unveils Anechoic Chamber
Chandler, IN - Apr 15, 2005 - ERI's new chamber includes an overhead crane arrangement that
retracts from the chamber interior, so as not compromise
performance. The 16,000 cubic foot chamber is believed to be the largest devoted to broadcast antenna applications. The large physical size of the chamber allows the use of deeper absorber material
lowering the usable frequency range to high band VHF channels. The software and other supporting equipment were adapted from
those used in the anechoic chamber acquired by ERI with the assets of Andrew Corporation's broadcast antenna products business.

measurements from VHF and UHF broadcast channels through
microwave frequencies. The test bed is configured to accept and rotate full scale models up to 12-feet in length and up to 1,000 pounds.
Citadel Joins Leading Broadcast Groups in Accelerated HD Radio Rollout
Columbia, MD - Apr 18, 2005 - Citadel Broadcasting, the sixth largest radio group, will join the coalition of broadcasters that recently announced accelerated plans to convert AM and FM stations to digital HD Radio technology. Citadel plans to convert 60 stations to HD Radio during the next three years.
Citadel joins 21 groups who announced their accelerated HD Radio rollout plans in January 2005 at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
Staco Appoints Several Reps
Dayton, OH - Apr 25, 2005 - Staco Energy Products has appointed several
manufacturer's representatives around the United States.
Bark Technologies has been appointed to cover Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, western Pennsylvania and Indiana, excluding Gary. S-Squire has been appointed to cover New Mexico. Shamrock Power has appointed to handle the New England area, including upstate New York. Technical Group Services has been appointed to cover New Jersey and the metro New York City area.
Musicmaster Now Supported by Promo Only
Orlando - Apr 25, 2005 - Musicmaster for Windows, a music scheduling system, is now supported by the Promo Only MPE digital distribution system. The software will now be incorporated into the Promo Only MPE Secure Media Delivery System for optional use.
Digital Radio Express Signs Armstrong, Bext
San Jose, CA - Apr 22, 2005 - Armstrong Transmitter and Bext have signed with Digital Radio Express to be authorized dealers for DRE's digital FM subcarrier system called FM Extra. DRE exhibited FM Extra at NAB2005 at the booths of the two transmitter manufacturers. DRE touts that its system can broadcast as many as 16 program streams using a station's existing equipment.

Sennheiser Promotes Scott to Western Region Sales Manager
Old Lyme, CT - Apr 25, 2005 - Sennheiser has promoted Jamie Scott to the position of western regional sales manager, professional products. Scott will have primary sales oversight across all of the Sennheiser products and distributed brands for this region. He will also be responsible for managing and developing the western regional sales representatives, market development managers and assistant regional managers. He assumes the job previously held by Lee Stein and will report directly to Jeff Alexander, Sennheiser vice president of sales.
Scott joined Sennheiser in 2000 as a sales representative in the Northern California territory. He will work from his home office in the San Francisco area.
Stock Named RF Environmental Director for LBA
Greenville, NC - Apr 7, 2005 - Dr. Margot Stock has been named director
of radio frequency environmental support for Lawrence Behr Associates.
Stock will provide programmatic development support for the firm's radio
frequency safety, electromagnetic shielding and workplace training
services. Its services are primarily directed to the communications,
healthcare and construction industries.
Stock is a native of Toronto. She has previously served as an associate professor of nursing at East Carolina University and as a neurology nurse practitioner at East Carolina Neurology. She holds a doctorate from Oxford University and a bachelor of science with undergraduate studies in mathematics and physics from Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario.

Audemat-Aztec Awards 10,000th RBDS Encoder
Miami FL - Apr 26, 2005 - Audemat-Aztec has selected the winner in the drawing for the company's 10,000th RBDS encoder. The name was drawn during the NAB convention. Tom Spaight of WCQS, Asheville, NC, is the lucky winner of an Audemat-Aztec FMB80. Lynre Collins of Harris drew the winning name.
Spaight was surprised when Audemat-Aztec called with the good news. He was planning to install RBDS at his station, so the timing was perfect.
WCQS is a public radio station that is operated by Western North Carolina Public Radio. WCQS offers programming from National Public Radio, Public Radio International and locally hosted music and talk programs.
SBE Introduces SBE Toolbox Frequency Coordination Software
Indianapolis - Apr 16, 2004 - The Society of Broadcast Engineers has developed a new software tool for use by local, regional and event frequency coordinators. SBE Toolbox will be provided free of charge to SBE and affiliated frequency coordinators. The new software uses a runtime version of Filemaker Pro so no additional software is required.
The software was released at the annual meeting of SBE frequency coordinators held during NAB2005. SBE National Football League Game Day Coordinators also received a copy during the convention.
SBE Toolbox allows users to import records used in the SBE's previous DOS-based software. It automatically calculates distance and bearing from latitude and longitude, has automatic e-mail and letter writing features and wireless mic and IFB tables built in. SBE Toolbox can be used for regular day-to-day local coordination and event coordination purposes.

Lectrosonics Updates MM400A Transmitter
Rio Rancho, NM - Apr 20, 2005 - The MM400A from Lectrosonics has been updated as the MM400B, and includes a waterproof, programmable switch, a steel cable battery door retainer and an IFB compatibility emulation mode.
The MM400B transmitter, like its predecessor, features 100mW RF power with a
circular isolator at the output for reduced IM distortion. The case for the
transmitter is water-resistant and plated with a corrosion-resistant surface.
Eventide Announces new Software for Ultra-Harmonizer
Little Ferry, NJ - March 30, 2005 - Eventide is now shipping its Version 4.5 software for the H8000 and H8000A Ultra-Harmonizer effects processors. The updated software offers custom scale pitch shifting, MIDI virtual racks, effects stacking and more 5.1 algorithms. With Version 4.5 users can create scales comprised of five to 12 notes, and choose the exact amount of pitch shifting applied to each note in his custom scale, opening up territories like counterpoint, hybrid harmonies, poly-tonality and ethnic harmonies.
Klotz Offers New Features for Aeon
Las Vegas - Apr 18, 2005 - Klotz's Aeon radio on-air console is now also available with software release V.1.1 and is able to increase the number of faders to 20. Previously, Aeon was available as 8, 12 or 16 fader console. The 20 fader console allows users to have more simultaneous channels in direct access. Another new feature is the implementation of the Octo-Bus studio network components, comprising tiny active I/O boxes based on a bidirectional eight-channel audio bus structure.
Symetrix's Airtools 6200 Available
Mountlake Terrace, WA - Apr 26, 2005 - The Airtools 6200 digital voice processor from Symetrix is intended for on-air and production processing of microphones and line-level signals in radio. The unit is fully programmable and controllable in real-time from its front
panel, or from an included Windows software application called 6200
Designer. Communication is handled over USB, Ethernet, or serial (RS-232 or
RS-485). Each unit is individually addressable over IP and can be configured
for a facility's existing LAN for network control. Onboard processing modules include symmetry; high pass filter; de-esser;
four-band parametric EQ; shelving filter that can be set to high- or
low-shelf; dynamics module including downward expander for gating and
compression with AGC mode; and a low pass filter.
Dalet Supports NPR's Content Depot
Las Vegas - Apr 18, 2005 - Now NPR stations using the Dalet radio broadcast system will have the audio content automatically imported into their Dalet server and the associated metadata inserted in the Dalet database. Dalet will also offer the NPR stations automatic audio transcoding during ingest. NPR will have seamless integration between the new audio file delivery system and their Dalet broadcast system. In addition to the real time distribution of programming, Content Depot will provide non-real time delivery of audio files with associated metadata directly to local disk storage. Delivered files will be automatically ingested into Dalet and they will be available for schedule or live assist playback without user intervention.
RCS Switches Development Platforms
Las Vegas - Apr 18, 2005 - As a Microsoft Certified Partner, RCS has decided to make the transition to this new platform maintaining its leadership position in broadcast software development. The new platform will spread throughout all RCS products to create rapid software development and a shorter timeline of systems rollout.
"Our primary products Selector, Linker and Master Control will see immediate positive results, and RCS will roll out new a music scheduler, promo scheduler, digital automation system and eventually a new RCS traffic system will be reinvented using these advanced technologies," said RCS President Philippe Generali.
SRS Updates Circle Surround Products
Santa Ana, CA - Apr 18, 2005 - SRS Labs' analog and digital hardware decoder products now come with the Xtract 6.1 surround utility, which repurposes mono or stereo audio up to 6.1 channels. The units also feature a music monitoring mode, allowing audio professionals to monitor CS-encoded music content in real time. SRS provided three Circle Surround demonstrations in its booth; digital radio broadcasting arena pre-production and post-production.
