Continental Electronics will supply four 250kW HF DRM-ready transmitters and associated equipment to the Saudi Arabia Ministry of Information (MOI) through First Gulf Company of Riyadh. First Gulf will construct an entirely new HF facility consisting of transmitters, antennas and other equipment, to be installed at the existing Al Khumra site, outside Jeddah. The Al Khumra facility was first constructed by Continental Electronics and its civil contractor between 1978 and 1980. The new HF facility will be in addition to multiple 2MW and 1MW medium-wave systems, also using transmitters manufactured by Continental. The transmitters will be delivered by Continental in the latter part of 2010 and the station is planned to be fully operational by mid-2011.
The DaySequerra UpMix, DownMix and Mono2Stereo products featuring DTS Technologies are being used to broadcast the 2010 World Cup. Hardware integrated on-site Africa includes DTS Neural 5.1 surround sound encoders and decoders and the Mono2Stereo four-channel stereo synthesizer.
German broadcaster Südwestrundfunk (SWR), handling broadcast duties for ARD, the nationwide German radio and TV network and working with Swiss Host Broadcast Services (HBS) is using Lawo consoles and routers. SWR rented seven Lawo Crystal consoles and an MC²56 console from Audio Broadcast Services (ABS). Most of the equipment being used had already seen action at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.
