CBS Radio Launches Quadcast HD Radio Station
Washington - Mar 8, 2010 - CBS Radio will launch The FAN Sports Network, a four-channel HD Radio digital multicast station. WJFK-FM 106.7 The Fan in Washington, DC, is now offering sports followers access to CBS Radio's biggest sports radio stations in the Northeast including WJZ-FM Baltimore (HD2), WFAN New York (HD3) and WIP Philadelphia (HD4).
Harris provided CBS Radio with the transmission system to support this inaugural HD4 station, which included an HPX30 transmitter and FlexStar system. The installation also supplies the increased power digital sidebands approved by the FCC. The Harris FlexStar system includes the HDE-100 importer v4.3, the first Importer to accommodate HD4 multicast streams, and the HDE-200 embedded program exporter and HDx exciter.
