Planning for a digital future 

In 2005 American Tower was approached by current and prospective tenants to consider modifying the aging antenna and its combiners to transmit HD Radio. The result of this project is an antenna installation with greater capacity, additional redundancy, and natural transition path for the stations to go digital.

How to make HD Radio succeed: do nothing 

Broadcasters, Ibiquity and the HD Digital Radio Alliance are all trying hard to make HD Radio a success. This is all good, but the truth is that for HD Radio to succeed, broadcasters should not have to do anything.

Implementing Surround 

When WGUC initially made the transition to HD Radio in 2003 it was looking forward to the added benefits it would bring, such as the ability to broadcast 5.1 surround sound. The station is now transmitting surround broadcasts whenever possible.

Sirius Files with FCC for Additional Satellite 

Sirius Satellite Radio has filed an application for authority to launch and operate an additional satellite to enhance its services. The new satellite is being referred to as Sirius FM-5. It would be placed into a geostationary orbit.
