January 12, 2014

Jan 12, 2014 - There are advanced plans for a second DAB+ network that will cover the southwestern (French-speaking) portion of Switzerland. The new network is expected to be activated in spring 2014, according to RadioNL. It will carry 22 stations via channel 10B. The transmission sites have all been coordinated.

Radio stations that will be part of the new mux include French-language channels GRRIF FM (Lausanne), One FM, Radio Chablais, Radio Fribourg, RFJ, Rhône FM, RJB, Rouge FM, RTN, Vertical Radio, Yes FM, the German channels Radio Freiburg and SRF4 News, along with the Italian channel RSI Rete Tre.

The first DAB+ network covering the same area has been on-air since 2007 and carries the French public stations RTS La Première, Espace 2, Couleur 3 and Option Musique, as well as a number of German-speaking and Italian-speaking public stations. That mux is broadcast on channel 12A.
