AT&T Announces Connected-Car Initiatives

Dallas - Jan 6, 2014 - As 4G LTE networks reach more and more people in the US, virtually every automobile manufacturer is working toward a connected car that takes advantage of next-generation data speeds. With this in mind, AT&T announced two major initiatives to facilitate developments in the connected car market: a first-of-its-kind connected car center called the AT&T Drive Studio; and a modular, global automotive platform called AT&T Drive.

Located in Atlanta, AT&T Drive Studio has working garage bays, a speech lab, a full showroom to exhibit the latest innovations, and conference facilities. AT&T is the first carrier to open a dedicated facility for connected car innovation and research.

AT&T Drive is the company's connected car platform - a modular, global systems that allows automakers to pick and choose what services and capabilities are important to them to differentiate their services in the marketplace. From connectivity and billing services to data analytics and infotainment, AT&T Drive will allow auto makers and developers to develop their own customized connected car solutions.
