Denmark Plans to Cease FM Broadcasting in 2019

Copenhagen - Sep 26, 2013 - Denmark's Culture Agency has announced that parties to the media settlement of 2012-2014 have approved a revised timetable for the transition to digital radio there. Licenses for FM broadcasters will be extended until 2019, after which it is expected that analog FM broadcasts will cease, according to radioassistant.com. The country also plans to transition from DAB to DAB+ in December 2014.

It should also be noted that a prerequisite for the sun-setting of the FM band there is that at least 50 percent of all radio listening is via digital stations.
