Gallagher Elected CEO of ARRL

Takes over for David Sumner as of April 18 January 27, 2016

NEWINGTON, Conn.—During a special session by the America Radio Relay League Board of Directors on Jan. 25, Tom Gallagher was elected as the new CEO and secretary for the organization. 

Effective April 18, Gallagher will succeed David Sumner in the role of CEO.
 
Gallagher has served as an international investment banker and financial services executive for three decades, holding leadership positions with companies like JP Morgan Chase & Co, CIBC Oppenheimer & Co, and Wachovia Capital Markets. He has also served on boards for two New York Stock Exchange companies, Charlotte, N.C.’s National Public Radio affiliate, the executive board of The Penn Fund at the University of Pennsylvania, and The International Center of Photography.
 
The ARRL is the national association for amateur radio, also known as ham radio, in the U.S. The ARRL was founded in 1914 in Hartford, Conn. ARRL had more than 170,000 members.
 
Gallagher will join the ARRL staff in Newington, Conn., as CEO-Elect on Feb. 29, which will initiate a transition period.
