Las Vegas - Apr 7, 2014 - iBiquity Digital announced the number of Mexican broadcasters across the country adopting HD Radio technology has grown over the last two years. To further advance the rollout, iBiquity has added personnel in Mexico to support broadcasters, car dealers, brands and retailers with HD Radio technology.
Robert Struble, president and CEO of iBiquity stated, "In the short time since official adoption in Mexico, we have been excited to see consistent and strong HD Radio growth, with broadcasters steadily upgrading their stations to digital and the automotive sector rapidly adopting the technology. These successes will fuel consumer awareness and drive demand in other categories."
Currently, 38 stations in Mexico are HD Radio equipped. Mexico City is home to 13 FM HD Radio stations, which have also lit up 24 HD2 and HD3 channels, providing digital-only programming, including jazz, classical, modern, news, cultural and talk shows.
Automakers continue to expand the number of vehicles with built-in HD Radio receivers to Mexico, now including Buick, Chevrolet, Dodge, Ford, GMC, Infiniti, Jeep, Lincoln, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Mercedes-Benz, RAM and Toyota.
HD Radio aftermarket and home products are also available from multiple brands including Alpine, Kenwood, Insignia, Pioneer and Sony. Major Mexican retailers such as Best Buy, Coppel, Elektra, FAMSA, Liverpool, Sears and Woolworth carry diverse models.
