iHeartMedia Shutters Clear Channel Satellite

November 20, 2014

In recent weeks, Radio magazine received several inquiries from readers about a letter that had been circulating from iHeartMedia to clients of Clear Channel Satellite Services advising them of changes.

As reported by our sister publication Radio World, the letter to clients read in part “In the coming weeks, our team will be working with the existing customers to discuss the best way for a smooth transition to a new provider. Customers with soon-expiring contracts will have the option to continue their service on a month-to-month basis until we''ve found a suitable assignee for the business,”

It is unclear at this time if iHeartMedia is in active talks with any potential buyers for the business. Radio magazine has learned from sources close to the matter that the Clear Channel Satellite uplink facility and NOC based near Denver will be decommissioned. A small group of employees remains at the facility to perform the decommissioning and support through customer transitions.

iHeartMedia also owns Premiere Networks for nationally syndicated program distribution.
