August 19, 2011

Hackett's Cove, NS - Aug 18, 2011 - Nautel will offer a one-day training course on HD Radio in conjunction with the 2011 Radio Show in Chicago. The course is designed for broadcasters who have not yet deployed HD Radio but are considering implementation of this technology. The training session will be held Sept. 13 from 1- 5 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, Skyway 260.

The first hour will focus on the basics of HD Radio, starting with a session titled "HD Radio - Why Now?" This non-technical presentation for managers, programmers and engineers will cover the technologies that have been developed for digital broadcasting and the current capabilities that are provided for HD Radio.

Attendees already familiar with the basics can arrive at 2 p.m. when the second session de-mystifies the technology of HD Radio transmission. Included will be a discussion of "RF Basics," which will provide an explanation of digital carriers, transmitter power de-rating, combining methods and digital injection levels.

A session on "Networking and Components of the System" is slated for the third hour. Components that may be familiar names to broadcasters but unfamiliar technologies will be explained including Exporters, Importers, SPS channels, data, monitoring components and other peripheral components. This hour's session will close with an HD Radio cost planning checklist.

The afternoon will wrap up with an "Advanced HD Radio" session at 4 p.m., covering Nautel-specific technologies for digital broadcasting. The company's Reliable HD, HD PowerBoost and asymmetrical sidebands will be explained along with a demonstration of the Nautel Advanced User Interface (AUI).

Space for this training session is limited and Nautel recommends registering early. Register for the HD Radio session: nautel.com/invite/nug2011fallor contact Ian Burns at Nautel ian.burns@nautel.com.
