CHICAGO—The Talentmasters Morning Show Bootcamp celebrated its 26th anniversary in Chicago on August 7-8.
In addition to panel discussions and events, the organization provided an awards ceremony to honor those in the broadcast industry who have been best exemplified by their work over the past several months.
This year, MSBC host Don Anthony presented the first Kidd Kraddick Award with the blessing of Kraddick''s daughter, Caroline. In memory of radio morning show personality and legend Kidd Kraddick who passed away in 2013, the award was presented to the morning radio show whose attributes included originality, overall success, contributions to the public on and off the air, as well as one that serves as an inspiration to their colleagues. This year, the recipient of the inaugural honor was presented to The Bert Show, a syndicated morning show that reaches 25 markets.
“Our final question was 'who would Kidd have likely picked to receive this first award?” said MSBC host Don Anthony. “Given Bert''s long association and friendship with Kidd, plus the success of his highly touted Bert's Big Adventure, The Bert Show was finally picked as the award's first recipient.”
The recipient of next year's award will be selected by The Bert Show.
The Bert Show is now on the air in Dallas, Amarillo, Abilene and Lubbock, Texas; Brunswick and Savannah, Ga.; Charleston, SC; Indianapolis and Fort Wayne, Ind.; Nashville, Tenn.; Salt Lake City, Utah; Myrtle Beach and Charleston, S.C.; Reno, Nev.; Fayetville and Hot Springs, Ark.; Huntington, W.V.; Grand Forks and Jamestown, N.D.; Hugoton and Southwest Kan.; Pierre, S.D.; and Tupelo, Miss.
