Tieline Technology Opus

Indianapolis – Mar 24, 2014 - Tieline Technology today announced support for up to six simultaneous streams of Opus encoding in Genie Distribution and Merlin PLUS IP audio codecs.

Opus is the latest state-of-the-art audio codec standardized by the Internet Engineering Task Force for interactive speech and music transmissions over the Internet and a range of IP streaming applications. It has also been validated by the EBU.

Opus incorporates technology from the well-known SILK and CELT codecs and is ideal for live broadcast situations because of its capacity to deliver high quality, real-time IP audio at low bit rates and extremely low delay 2.5ms at higher bit rates.

Opus in Tieline''s Report-IT app and the Merlin and Genie codec families has a low 20ms encoding delay at 14.4kb/s, which compares very favorably with other low bit rate codecs.
