San Diego, CA - Feb 24, 2014 - The Wireless Industry Safety Task Force launched the 100% Tie-Off 24/7 Awareness Campaign at the NATE Unite 2014 Conference in San Diego, CA. The Wireless Industry Safety Task Force consists of top safety and operations executives representing wireless carriers, tower owners, OEMs, turnkey/construction management firms and the National Association of Tower Erectors (NATE). The task force was established to collaborate on best practice solutions to achieve sustainable safety improvements in the industry.
"One of the early issues identified as a result of the task force's collaborative efforts is the fact that many of the tower-site accidents that compromise safety involve situations where the tower technician was not properly tied-off to the structure", stated task force member Sonya Roshek from Black and Veatch. "We believe strongly that everyone involved in the industry has a role to play when it comes to emphasizing 100 percent tie-off to ensure a safer work environment and prevent future accidents," added Roshek.
To educate industry stakeholders, the 100% Tie-Off 24/7 Awareness Campaign will involve a comprehensive grassroots approach that includes the filming of public service announcements, paid advertising, earned media efforts, a social media component and collaborating with State Wireless Associations in order to expand the campaign's reach.
