(Baltimore) – WYPR has announced that Jonathan D. Rogers has been named chairman of the station''s board of directors. Rogers succeeds John P. (Jack) Machen, whose term ended June 30.
A Baltimore native, Rogers is an active community member and has served on WYPR''s board of directors since 2011. He has helped WYPR grow as a news outlet and as a source of cultural expression that seeks to share groundbreaking ideas with the community.
Rogers is the Treasurer for the Roland Green Condominium Association and tutors children at the KIPP Ujima Village Academy of Baltimore. He previously served as the President of the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra board and in various roles during his 18 years on the board for The Park School of Baltimore. He was a trustee of the Jewish Museum of Maryland, Central Scholarship Bureau and other community organizations.
Rogers is a graduate of Brown University and of The Park School of Baltimore. He and his wife, Joan, live in Baltimore and have four adult children.
