STOW, Ohio—Audio-Technica is now selling a new record player to consumers: the AT-LP5 direct drive turntable. Its features include a direct-drive motor system, a 5mm dapping mat and J-shaped tonearm.

The AT-LP5’s direct-drive motor system provides playback for both 33 1/3 and 45 RPM records. The 5mm dapping mat is combined with a die-cast, machined and balanced aluminum platter for minimized internal resonances. The J-shaped tonearm features a metal gimbal suspension system with precision bearings. It comes pre-mounted with Audio-Technica’s AT-HS10 removable headshell and the AT95EX dual moving magnet cartridge.

Additional features for the AT-LP5 include tracking force, anti-skating and vertical tracking angle; a built-in switchable phono preamp allowing for the turntable to be used with a range of music and home entertainment systems; USB output and Audacity software for transferring records to digital music; as well as connecting cables, cartridge alignment and overhang adjustment template.

Audio-Technica is selling the AT-LP5 at a market price of $449.
