GatesAir Brings IP-Enabled VHF Transmitters to DAB Radio Networks

Maxiva VAXTE supports all DAB radio modulations August 15, 2017

CINCINNATI—DAB/DAB+ radio is getting some support from GatesAir, as the company’s Maxiva VAXTE transmitter now works with all DAB radio modulations.

The VAXTE is available in 2RU and 4RU single-chassis models to drive power levels from 15 W to 1.2 kW, with larger configurations available for single-rack DAB systems up to 9.2 kW. The transmitter offers input connections to accommodate EDI and ETI protocols, which support IP and legacy audio contribution and distribution across DAB networks.

All VAXTE transmitters integrate the software-defined Maxiva XTE exciter platform, enabling support of all DAB radio modulations. The XTE also improves digital signal processing power and features GatesAir RTAC software for digital signal correction at the amplification stage. IP-based monitoring and control is also available with the VAXTE transmitter.

The VAXTE is built on GatesAir’s latest power amplifiers to increase peak power capacity of OFDM and ATSC waveforms. Redundant, front-access power supplies are integrated separately. PA modules and dedicated power supplies are hot-swappable.

GatesAir will feature the VAXTE transmitter with DAB support at IBC 2017.
