Orban Launches Optimod-FM 8700i

System designed for use with both analog and digital radio April 18, 2017

PENNSAUKEN, N.J.—Baseball season is underway, and Orban is calling up its own switch-hitter, announcing the Optimod-FM 8700i air processor that can work for analog and digital radio. This new system comes with Dante AoIP with AES67 capability, a low-latency headphone output and Xponential Loudness algorithm.

The suite of features that are available with the Optimod-FM 8700i include Orban’s MX distortion-canceling peak limiter; digital MPX; subharmonic synthesis and phase skew correction; a controls for stereo enhancement, multipath reduction, HF enhancement, EQ, AGC, multiband compression, stereo encoding, low-IM peak limiting and composite limiting; full function RDS/RBDS with PS scrolling; ratings processor loop-through; and an automated dayparting with an NTP-reference real-time clock. SNMP features allow for monitoring of status and sending of alarm notifications to a network via an Ethernet connection.

Orban will showcase the Optimod-FM 8700i at the 2017 NAB Show and then will begin shipping in May.
