TC-Electronic Creates Stereo Loudness Solution

August 28, 2014

RISSKOV, DENMARK—Loudness authority TC Electronic introduces Loudness Pilot, a multiple stereo and mono loudness controller and true-peak limiter.

Loudness Pilot has a fit-for-purpose design featuring two stereo audio tracks. Loudness Pilot enables broadcasters to transmit two signals simultaneously in different languages on a single unit. The unit automatically switches over to another audio-stream, should a secondary language not be available. It launches with five different versions: SDI 1, 2 or 3 streams and AES balanced or unbalanced.

“If you have to stream to a mobile platform your signal will probably need to be a bit louder,” said Thomas Valter, TC Electronic vice president of business management, broadcast and production. “In the absence of set standards for this area, we recommend that broadcasters aim at -16 LUFS/LKFS for this signal. You can set Loudness Pilot perfectly for each of your transmissions.”

Loudness Pilot is purpose built and its focused design in both the SDI and AES versions also includes the option to add the renowned TC Loudness Radar Meter and 24/7 logging as a separate license.

It features dual redundancy so that the signal will never be in jeopardy. There are dual fuses, dual fans and dual power inputs and a Relay Bypass feature (on both SDI and AES versions).
