OSLO – Acon Digital has released Equalize, a parametric equalizer plug-in that combines unique features with excellent workflow and an intuitive user interface.
The equalizer enables users to adjust the frequency, gain and bandwidth, as well as the filter slope for each frequency band. The filter slope can be set anywhere from 3 to ultra-sharp 120 dB per octave. Equalize operates as a zero latency plug-in when using the minimum phase mode or can preserve phase relationships in the linear phase mode.
There is also an additional mixed phase mode that allows latency adjustments in the range 5 to 120 milliseconds while preserving the phase relationships as far as possible. That gives control over potential pre-ringing which is a common problem with linear phase filtering. Latency values around 20 milliseconds ensure inaudible pre-ringing artifacts due to the temporal masking of the human hearing while preserving the time-alignment across the audible frequency range.
Band parameters can be adjusted using handles directly in the graphical representation of the frequency response, including bandwidths and filter slopes. Flexible real-time spectrum analyzers give visual feedback of the processing. Frequency bands can individually be set up for full, mid, side, left or right channel processing and Equalize automatically routes the audio signal internally to ensure the best results and lowest possible latency.
Up to twelve independent bands can be adjusted, and three different phase modes, including the novel mixed phase mode, are available. Users can choose channel mode for each band independently (mid, side, left, right or full processing).
Acon Digital Equalize is available for both Windows (PC) and OS X (Macintosh) for the regular price of $99.90 at acondigital.com. An introduction offer is available until December 25, during which Equalize will be available with 20% discount for only $79.90 (USD). Both 32 and 64 bit versions are available, and the plug-in formats VST and Audio Units (OS X only) are supported. More information is available on the Acon Digital Equalize product page.
It is available in both English and German.
