Harris Broadcast Hires Thomason, Expands North American Radio Sales Territories

11/27/2012 11:42:57 AM DENVER, November 27, 2012 — Harris Broadcast has reconfigured its radio broadcast sales territories in North America to maximize regional impact. The changes include the hiring of Jim Thomason, a 30-year veteran in the radio broadcast industry. [caption id="attachment_2655" align="alignleft" width="300" caption="Jim Thomason will represent the southeast U.S. territory for Harris Broadcast"][/caption]Thomason, who had previously worked for Harris as a district sales manager, will return to the company and focus on the southeast U.S. region. The move will shift long-time regional sales manager Garrett Wood to the northwest region, including Alaska and western Canada. Both Thomason and Wood will maintain the high level of sales and service that customers expect in these regions, while building relationships with new customers. “With Jim''s hiring, we have taken the opportunity to shift sales responsibilities in a way that leverages the regional strengths of our existing sales representatives in the United States and Canada,” said Mark Goins, Manager, North American radio sales, Harris Broadcast Communications. “We had a unique opportunity in the northwest and Garrett stepped up to the challenge, as he has experience in this territory. We believe that the changes will benefit our customers in every region.”Thomason has worked in radio since he was 16, giving him a keen insight into customer challenges and how to effectively offer solutions. He most recently served as a regional sales manager for SCMS, Inc., which is an external North American sales channel for Harris PR&E studio systems. “Harris has set a gold standard of what customers expect in terms of products and service,” said Thomason. “My biggest challenge is making sure that customers understand how what they are buying today can play a significant role in their facility years from now. Harris has always had remarkable insight into understanding what lies ahead for the industry, and developing solutions with the future in mind.”Goins, who also handles Midwest U.S. sales, notes that other long-time regional sales managers Ron Lane and Brian Szewczyk will see territory expansions as well.
