July 3, 2014 - Private FM stations in India may soon be allowed to broadcast news headlines. Currently the primary source of news on the airwaves is from government owned stations but government officials have agreed "in principle" to allow headlines sourced from All India Radio and Press Trust of India to be broadcast on private FM stations.
A decision is expected soon as the Indian government continues to issue new authorizations for privately owned FM broadcast stations. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India and a government committee has recommended that stations be allowed to broadcast the content.
