Columbia, MD - Jul 1, 2013 - iBiquity Digital confirmed that Mitsubishi Motors North America is the first automaker to have vehicles with integrated audio entertainment and real-time traffic and data services using HD Radio on dealer lots. Both the 2014 Outlander and 2014 Lancer offer real-time traffic information integrated into their navigation systems, as well as HD Radio.
Nokia's Here has partnered with a group of radio station companies called the Broadcaster Traffic Consortium (BTC) to create a nationwide network set-up to broadcast the real-time traffic and data information using the HD Radio digital AM and FM system. Mitsubishi has selected Here as the service provider and will receive its digital traffic, weather and fuel information over the BTC network via the HD Radio broadcast on all 2014 Outlander and Lancer vehicles equipped with the navigation system.
33 automakers have now publicly announced plans to incorporate HD Radio in 170+ models by year-end with more than 80 models featuring HD Radio receivers as standard equipment.
