Yamaha and Steinberg announced several new products earlier this year. First is a white version of their well known HS series of studio monitors. This gives users an additional aesthetic choice when integrating these monitors into a studio environment.
Second, Yamaha has made significant updates to the MG series of small format mixing consoles. The redesigned MG series offers 10 different models ranging from six to twenty input channels with new SPX effects processors. In addition, four of the five XU models feature an integrated 24 bit, 192 kHz USB audio interface which is directly compatible with iPad and iPhone devices through Apple's USB Camera Connection Kit. Other enhancements in the redesigned MG series include a more rugged chassis, and improved microphone preamplifiers.
Finally, Steinberg introduced the UR44, a 24 bit, 192 kHz USB audio interface. The device features six inputs, four high quality microphone preamplifiers, four outputs, and MIDI I/O. It is compatible with iPhone and iPad devices when used with Apple's Camera Connection Kit. This allows a high density of professional audio I/O on a mobile device.
