RAJAR Details Further Progress for Digital Radio in U.K.

LONDON�Digital Radio UK is reporting that RAJAR has released its Q3 2014 listening figures for the U.K. Among the most important findings are these:

� Digital radio listening grows by 6% to a record high of almost 38%� In-car listening share on digital radio grows to a record 13.8% with a 53% growth in-car listening hours, reflecting the growth of DAB digital radio in new cars� 48.7% of the population or 26 million adults now have access to a DAB digital radio, up 8% year on year.� DAB listening share grows by 7% to a record high of 24.5% share (over 65% of all digital listening hours), with hours up 6% year on year to 250 million.� Radio listening online or via apps increases share to 6.4%, up by 12% year on year, while radio listening on digital TV declined to 5.0%, a decrease in hours of 4% year on year.

The growth of in-car listening is consistent with the growth of new cars being sold with digital radio as standard, which was 58% of all new cars in Sept 2014 (CAP/SMMT), up 47% from Sept 2013 (41.5).

Over half of the population (51.2% of the UK or 27.4 million people) now listens to digital radio platforms each week.

BBC Radio 6 Music is the leading digital-only station and grew by 15% to a new record of almost 2 million listeners (1.994 million). This increased the station's overall listening lead versus BBC Radio 3 which recorded 1.912 million listeners. Each station in the BBC's portfolio of digital only stations recorded audiences of over 1 million.
