Report: More Than One-third of New Cars in UK Have Digital Radio as Standard

London - Apr 16, 2013 - More than one-third of all new cars sold in the U.K. now come with digital radio as standard feature, according to new 1Q2013 CAP/SMMT data. In 1Q2013 there were 215,000 cars sold with digital radio as standard, which represents 70 percent growth since 1Q2012.
In early 2013, 100 percent of new BMW model registrations had digital radio, as did 81 percent of new VW models and 73 percent of new Ford models. Audi just announced that from April 2013 all its new models will have digital radio as standard feature.
UK new vehicle sales were at record levels in 1Q2013. The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders announced last week that registrations in the first quarter rose by 7.4 percent to 605,198 units.
