Bayside, CA - Jun 10, 2013 - StreamGuys is adding the high-quality, low-latency codec Ogg Opus to its menu. The new open-source audio codec was standardized by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) and offers a royalty-free option for broadcasters.

Ogg Opus incorporates technology from the Skype-developed, speech-oriented SILK codec and the low-latency CELT, developed by the Xiph.Org Foundation as a next-generation music codec. Ogg Opus can scale from 8kb/s up to high-bandwidth full fidelity.

StreamGuys maintain its position as a codec-agnostic CDN, and offers Ogg Opus as a new option.
