Teleko Switches DAB on in Czech Republic

Brno, Czech Republic - Aug 1, 2011 - Regular DAB/DAB+ transmissions started today in the city of Brno, the second largest city in the Czech Republic. Only four months ago, DAB was switched on for the cities of Prague and Pribram.

Teleko is the provider, and it has made available a coverage map (65dBu contour) of the L-band transmissions. (View at In addition, a small chart shows just what is available on the Brno multiplex:

Radio Proglas is religious programming; Living Wave, alternative music; Leonardo is a science channel. Living in D-Major is a classical music channel; Living Region is regional news; and Living Czech is also news.

I should note that the difference between DAB and DAB+ is basically that DAB uses the MP2 codec, while DAB+ uses AAC and AAC+.
