BANGKOKThe National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) of Thailand will likely adopt DAB for digital radio across the country, reports Asiaradiotoday.com. This article, which in turn cites sources from the Bangkok post, is unclear as to whether the country will use DAB or DAB+.

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) recommended DAB+ (the new version of the technology, which has been available in Asia-Pacific for five years, with 1.4 million receivers having been sold) for Thailand.

VHF band III is currently used by TV in Thailand, but is reserved for future deployment of digital radio.
