Thorsteinson to Retire from Harris

Cincinnati - Oct 16, 2009 - Tim Thorsteinson, president of Harris Broadcast Communications, has announced plans to retire from the company effective Oct. 31, 2009, to pursue other interests. Harris has begun searching both internal and external candidates for his successor.
Thorsteinson was named president of Harris Broadcast Communications Division on July 1, 2006. He was previously president of the Leitch Technology business unit of the Broadcast Communications Division. He joined Harris in October 2005 when Harris acquired Leitch Technology, where he was president and CEO.
Thorsteinson joined Leitch in November 2003. Prior to this, he was vice president of Grass Valley products for Thomson Broadcast and Media Solutions. Previously, he served as president and CEO of the Grass Valley Group.
Before Thomson/Grass Valley, Thorsteinson was with Tektronix from 1991 to 2001 where he served as president of the Video and Networking Division. He also held a post as president of Tektronix Pacific Operations. Earlier in his career, Thorsteinson served 12 years with National Semiconductor Corporation.
