Vatican Radio Has Joined DAB Multiplexes in Italy

VATICAN CITY�The WorldDMB General Assembly, held in Rome, has just ended. 120 people, from Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, attended. Father Federico Lombardi, Director General of Vatican Radio, gave a brief speech in which he mentioned Vatican Radio''s plans going forward with digital broadcasting, reported by radiovaticana.va.

Vatican radio employs 200 journalists in 60 countries worldwide, broadcasting in 44 languages (even Esperanto) offering everything from Shortwave to Internet streams, and now DAB as well; Vatican Radio is transmitting regular DAB and DAB+ broadcasts that can be heard around the area of Rome, via transmitters located in Vatican City, at Castel Gandolfo, and Santa Maria di Galeria. In Collaboration with the Consortium EuroDAB, Vatican Radio has extended its coverage to most of Italy.
