IRTHLINGBOROUGH, EnglandThe latest addition to Sonifexs sound and radio capture cards is the PC-AD2, a dual stereo analog input/output and dual stereo AES-3 digital input/output sound card in the PCIe half height format.
With the PC-AD2, one of the analog inputs can be used as a dual mono or stereo mic input; it also features a dedicated AES-11 sync input and two general purpose inputs and outputs. The card is compatible with Windows Wave, DirectSound, DirectShow, MCI, MIDI playback and Core Audio APIs, as well as a range of audio compression modes via the Windows Audio Compression Manager or other software compression systems. It supports audio up to 32 bits, 192 kHz and can provide full sound card functionality on Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10 and Windows Server 2008 R2, 2012 and 2012 R2.
The peak analog level of the card sets the clipping threshold for the analog inputs at +15, +18, +20, +22 or +24dBu based on scale of the software audio streams. The core sampling rate can be synchronized to an external source chosen from either AES-3 inputs, the dedicated AES-11 sync input or an inter-card cable for synchronizing to another PC-AD2.
Additional features include independent asynchronous sampling rate conversion on inputs of 32 kHz to 192 kHz, while the output can be configured from 192 kHz down to 32 kHz. Extended software bit depths of 32 and 24 bits are supported, as well as 16 and 8 bits for playback and recording. Multiple cards may be installed in a single PC and a 44-pin high-density D-type connector to XLRs.
Sonifex is now shipping the PC-AD2.
