HANOVER, GermanyDRM Consortium memberAmpegonhas provided a 500 W DRM transmitter to RFMondial GmbH and the Institute of Communication Technology at the Leibniz Universitt Hannover for testing purposes. A broadcast license for 26.045 MHz has been given to the Leibniz Universitt to accommodate the test.

The testing facility allows technical personnel to make measurements in a city environment, while providing demonstrations of the DRM systems to other potential users. The installation is a complete DRM service chain maintained and operated by RFmondial with the support of Fraunhofer IIS. It co-exists with a DRM transmission in the FM band at 95.2 MHz. In addition to experiments undertaken at the University, the service is also offered to receiver, module or chipset manufacturers in order to verify and improve their implementations in real conditions.

New algorithms, coding and power improvements will be tested and verified. System linearization and coverage conditions for several operation modes are also under examination.
