OSLOIve written recently about how the conditions that will lead up to the sun-setting of the FM service in Norway have been met. According to a recent article intu.no.com, though, the transition could be delayed for a very simple reason: only about 20% of the cars in Norway have DAB+ radios.

Great strides are being madetwo years ago only about 6% of cars in Norway had DAB+ radios. 63% of new cars come with DAB+ radios now. Still, Norways Ministry of Culture is faced with the fact that 80% of the cars have nothing but FM radios.

According to the same article, in a recent survey conducted by TNS Gallup, people who do not have DAB+ radios in their cars were asked how they intended to get one. 42% responded that they install an adaptor themselves; 34% said that they would have it done at a shop. Interestingly, over half said that they were in no hurry to complete the workthey would wait until the transition occurs. Others said they were planning on getting new vehicles prior to the transition; still others are simply waiting for further developments.
