German Broadcaster ERF Committed to Digital Radio

BERLIN, Germany � Digital radio will reach the five-year mark in Germany on Aug. 1. There were 27 mux transmitters at its beginning; the number is now 79, and will reach 110 by the end of this year. It is anticipated that 98% of highways in Germany will be covered by digital radio, along with 92% of the area of the country, and 82% of households.�

The Christian Broadcaster ERFhas had programs available on DAB since the outset. Since June of 2013, ERF Pop has been available in Berlin, and since February of this year, in S�dhessen. �Motorists can hear ERF Plus from the North Sea to the Bernese Alps, without having to switch. It�s also been available on the test DAB+ mux in Vienna, since May of last year, according toinfosat.de.�

Interestingly, ERF has taken to selling digital radios to its listeners and now offers 19 different devices, some of which come with an ERF preset already in place. Prices range from 60 to 549 euros, and sales have reached 40,000. �
