GENEVA�WorldDMB has released its research on the penetration of DAB/DAB+ in both Europe and the Asia/Pacific regions (as of the end of 2014).� �Across Europe, radio is moving to digital�auto manufacturers should provide digital radio as standard on all models in countries that are committing to a digital radio future,� asserts the release.

Some of the more interesting facts are as follows:

  • � � � ��Digital radio network coverage is over 90% in the U.K., Switzerland, Norway, Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands.
  • � � � ��In the U.K. 61% of new cars have DAB receivers as standard equipment.� In Norway, that figure is 60%; in Switzerland, 45%; and, in Germany, about 10% and rising.
  • � � � ��Digital radio network coverage of roads is remarkable in many European nations: Norway is at 97%; Switzerland, 100%; Denmark, 98%; the Netherlands, 95%.� In the Pacific, coverage of roads in Australia (in and around the 5 capital cities) is at 94%.
  • � � � ��Digital radio networks are being built up in France, Italy, Poland, Belgium, and plans are being made for them in Austria.
  • � � � ��Digital radio receiver penetration in homes is also given: in Norway, about 53%; in the U.K., 49%; in Switzerland, about 43%; in Denmark, about 45%.�
